Biography

Ron was born January 15, 1935, in Boston, to Mary Wardlaw Hayes and Leonard Ralph Hayes. He grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts, was a three-sport high school athlete and graduated from Lexington High in 1952. Ron subsequently served in the United States Air Force and was posted to North Africa. After his military service he attended the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, obtaining his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, then went on to the Tufts University – Museum School program for his Masters in Education.

Ron lived with his wife Cynthia in York Harbor, Maine, for many decades, drawing inspiration from the rocky shoreline for several series of beautiful acrylic paintings. He returned to the Mass College of Art as a teacher, rising over time to the rank of Professor of Graphic Arts. He had many other interests, notably the science of nutrition, and he wrote and lectured on that subject for many years.
